Upcoming Events and Information:
September 18-22: Mr. Macklin will come for an hour each day this week to teach the students a program on positive decision making.
September 22 - Fall Kindness Carnival - 5-7 pm. A flyer has been sent home. Bring donations from the Kindness Service Project list and get a free sno cone or cotton candy at the carnival. These items will be sent to service men and women overseas during the holidays.
October 2-6 - SEP Week - I look forward to meeting with each of you. Your student will bring a note with their assigned time home next week. Please return the note indicating whether that time works for you or not. If not, please contact Mrs. Orton in the office to reschedule. She will have my schedule.
Band - Tues/Fri. - Bring instruments
Please help your student get in the habit of bringing their binder back and forth from home to school daily, showing you their planner daily, completing homework, and turning it in.
Donations: Some parents have asked about what kinds of donations we can use. Here are some suggestions: sanitizing wipes, colored dry erase markers, hand sanitizer, ziplock bags (gallon, quart, sandwich sizes).
Team Captain of the Week
Sept. 18 - Satara
Math: We are working on Chapter 2: Fractions. We will review on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week for Chapter 2 test and the test will be on Thursday. Students should complete math homework nightly. Please ask your student to explain a problem to you.
Language Arts: We have begun reading Boy: Tales of Childhood by Roald Dahl. Goal for this unit: Students will closely examine the text to draw conclusions and provide evidence as they write about the text.
Science: We will continue learning about molecular motion in the states of matter. This week our goals will include understanding the relationship between molecules and density, evaporation, and condensation.
Social Studies: Some of our social studies instruction will be integrated into our language arts this year. We will have some concentrated study of our social studies core the last couple months of school through some special projects such as Renaissance Day.
Word Work: Students will be working on new vocabulary through our Lang. Arts program this week. Students will be responsible for working on vocabulary for 10 minutes per day.
