Upcoming Events and Information:
Please have your student show you his/her grades at least once a week.
GRADES - I sent home a hard copy this past week. Please ask your student about it if you haven't seen it yet. They need to return the attached note. 2nd Quarter ends the day we get out for Christmas Break. Historically, the month of December is a time that students seem to let their grades slide. Please encourage your student to keep up on assignments.
Planet Projects were great! Thanks for helping your students be successful on this assignment!

*Students need to bring a clean jar with the label removed (approximately pint size) for a project for Christmas.

Please help your student get in the habit of bringing their binder back and forth from home to school daily, showing you their planner daily, completing homework, and turning it in.

Math: Chapter 6: TEST will be Wednesday, Nov. 16. Chapter 6: Units of Measure - Goal: Continue using ratio reasoning to convert units of measurement (length, capacity, weight and mass) and use distance, rate, and time formulas to solve problems. Chapter 7: Goal: Evaluate numerical expressions, write and evaluate algebraic expressions, and write and identify equivalent algebraic expressions. Students should complete math homework nightly. Please ask your student to explain a problem to you.
Language Arts: We will finish Unit 2: Tom and Sherlock this week. As a final writing assessment for this unit, students will compare how Tom acts in two different scenes in the book. Students will be expected to use evidence from the text to explain their comparison and elaborate on the evidence.
Science: Students have begun learning about the moon phases and space from Mr. Blauer. Students have a planets project due on Tuesday.
Social Studies: Some of our social studies instruction will be integrated into our language arts this year. We will have some concentrated study of our social studies core the last couple months of school through some special projects such as Renaissance Day.
Word Work: Students will be working on new vocabulary through our Lang. Arts program this week. Students will be responsible for working on vocabulary for 10 minutes per day.
Donations: Some parents have asked about what kinds of donations we can use. Here are some suggestions: sanitizing wipes, colored dry erase markers, hand sanitizer, ziplock bags (gallon, quart, sandwich sizes).
